University-Specific Grading Systems in Nepal

Tribhuvan University (TU)

Historically uses percentage-based grading (First Division: 60%+, Second: 45-59%, Third: 36-44%). Newer semester programs use letter grades:

WES and ECE Credential Evaluation

WES (World Education Services)

Most commonly required evaluation. Converts Nepali grades to US/Canadian GPA equivalent and verifies your institution and degree.

  • Processing: ~7-20 business days
  • Cost: ~$200-250 USD

ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators)

Alternative to WES, accepted by many universities. Similar evaluation and conversion with comparable processing time and cost.

When Is a Credential Evaluation Required?

USA: Many graduate programs require WES or ECE
Canada: Required for Express Entry and by some universities
Australia: Generally not required; universities do own assessment
UK: Rarely required; universities do own assessment
