Study in Poland

Poland is one of the most affordable ways for Nepali students to earn a European Union degree taught fully in English. Home to the University of Warsaw, the 660-year-old Jagiellonian University, and Warsaw University of Technology, Poland offers 900+ English-taught programs, tuition that is a fraction of Western Europe's, a central Schengen location, flexible work rights, and a 9-month post-study job-search permit. For Nepali students who want a recognised EU qualification without a UK or US-sized budget, Poland is a smart, increasingly popular choice.

Why Study in Poland

Top Reasons to Choose Poland

Affordable EU Degree

English-taught bachelor's and master's programs typically cost EUR 2,000-6,000 per year (approx. NPR 3-9 lakh) — far cheaper than the UK, USA, Australia or Ireland. Living costs are equally modest, making Poland one of the most budget-friendly EU destinations for Nepali students.

Hundreds of English-Taught Programs

Poland offers 900+ degree programs delivered entirely in English across business, IT, engineering, medicine and social sciences. You earn a European Higher Education Area (EHEA) degree recognised across the EU without needing to learn Polish first.

Highly Ranked Universities

The University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University rank among Central Europe's best, while Warsaw University of Technology and AGH University lead in engineering. Polish degrees follow the Bologna system, so credits transfer easily across Europe.

Flexible Work Rights

Full-time international students in Poland can work without a separate work permit and are not tied to the strict 20-hour weekly cap seen in many countries. This makes it easier to balance part-time work in retail, hospitality, IT or BPO with your studies.

Post-Study Job-Search Permit

Graduates of full-time Polish degrees can apply once for a 9-month temporary residence permit to look for a job or start a business — and can work without a permit. Strong graduates often move on to a work-based residence permit or EU Blue Card.

Central, Safe & Schengen-Connected

Poland sits at the heart of Europe with a low crime rate and a growing South Asian community. Your residence card lets you travel the Schengen Area, so weekend trips to Germany, Czechia or the Baltics are easy and cheap.

Visa Process

National (Type D) Student Visa Process

1

Secure an official admission/acceptance letter from a recognised Polish university for an English-taught program.

2

Pay the required tuition deposit or first instalment and obtain the official payment receipt.

Complete the National (Type D) visa application form online and book an appointment at the Polish visa application centre / Embassy of Poland responsible for Nepal (currently the Polish Embassy in New Delhi).

5

During Studies

Full-time international students in Poland can work without a separate work permit, and Polish rules are relatively flexible — full-time students are generally not capped at the strict 20-hour weekly limit common elsewhere in Europe. You can take part-time jobs in retail, hospitality, IT, BPO/customer support, or paid internships alongside your studies. You will need a PESEL number and a Polish bank account, and you should always confirm the exact conditions of your visa or residence card with your university's international office.

After Graduation

Graduates of full-time Polish degrees can apply once for a temporary residence permit for graduates to look for a job or start a business. It is valid for 9 months from graduation, you apply electronically (via MOS) no later than your last day of legal stay, and you must show health insurance, a Polish address and sufficient funds. Holders of a full-time Polish degree can work without a permit. Once you secure a job, you switch to a work-based temporary residence permit or, for higher-skilled roles, an EU Blue Card.

Post-Study Visa

9-month graduate job-search residence permit (apply once, immediately after graduating), then convert to a work permit or EU Blue Card.

Before applying to universities in Poland, you will need to demonstrate English proficiency. Most universities in Poland accept multiple test formats. Review the English proficiency tests for study abroad to compare IELTS, PTE, Duolingo, and TOEFL side by side, including country-specific IELTS score requirements.

Your application will also require a strong Statement of Purpose. Our SOP writing guide for Nepali students includes Poland-specific tips and the exact structure admissions committees expect. For financial requirements, see the financial documents guide with country-wise bank balance requirements and NRB regulations.
