The United States remains one of the most sought-after destinations for Nepali students. American universities offer world-class programs, research opportunities, and post-study work pathways through OPT that can launch a global career. But getting into a US university — and then getting your F1 visa — is a process with many steps, and each step has its own requirements, deadlines, and potential pitfalls.
At Study Abroad from Nepal, we have spent over a decade building direct partnerships with American universities and guiding Nepali students through every stage of the US admission process. This article takes you behind the scenes.
Our US University Partnerships
Study Abroad from Nepal maintains direct partnerships with 5+ vetted American universities that actively recruit Nepali students — each selected for accreditation, program quality, affordability, and international student support.
- Youngstown State University (Ohio) — Affordable tuition, strong support, conditional admission pathways for students with lower GPAs
- Webster University (Missouri/Multiple Campuses) — Known for business, media, and communications with a globally diverse student body
- University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) — One of the most affordable public universities in the US
- Bowling Green State University (BGSU, Ohio) — Strong graduate programs and research opportunities
- Texas Wesleyan University (Texas) — Small class sizes and personalized attention
We do not recommend universities we have not vetted. We recommend universities we would send our own family members to.
Our Step-by-Step Process for USA Admissions
Step 1: Profile Assessment
We evaluate your academic background, English proficiency scores, financial capacity, work experience, and career goals. This determines which universities are realistic for your profile. We are honest — if a university is not a good fit, we will tell you why.
Step 2: University Matching
Based on your profile, we shortlist 3 to 5 universities where you have a strong chance of admission. We consider tuition, scholarships, program reputation, location, and history of accepting Nepali students. You are part of this decision.
Step 3: Application Support
We guide you through the complete application: transcripts, university-specific Statements of Purpose, recommendation letters, and ensuring every document meets requirements. Each application is tailored.
Step 4: Financial Documentation
US universities and the US Embassy require detailed financial documentation. We help prepare bank statements, sponsor letters, income proof, and loan documentation. Every document is reviewed before submission.
Step 5: Visa Preparation
Once you receive your I-20, we guide you through the F1 visa process: DS-160 form, SEVIS fee, embassy appointment, and — most importantly — multiple mock visa interviews so you walk into the embassy confident and prepared.
Step 6: Pre-Departure
After your visa is approved, we provide a pre-departure briefing covering accommodation, airport arrival, university orientation, banking, SIM cards, and everything for your first week in the United States.

A Student Journey: From First Counseling to Landing in the USA
Here is a timeline based on a typical student we guide through the US process:
Month 1-2: Initial Consultation and Profile Review
The student visits our Putalisadak office. We assess their record (3.0 GPA, bachelor's in business), financial situation, and career goals. We recommend the Duolingo English Test based on their target universities.
Month 2-3: Test Preparation and Score
The student prepares for and takes the Duolingo test, scoring 115. This qualifies them for all five partner universities.
Month 3-4: University Selection and Applications
We shortlist three universities, write three customized SOPs, and submit before priority deadlines.
Month 4-6: Admission and I-20
The student receives admission from two universities and chooses Youngstown State based on tuition and program fit. The university issues the I-20.
Month 6-7: Visa Preparation and Interview
We complete the DS-160, pay SEVIS, prepare financial documents, and conduct three mock interviews. The student receives the F1 visa.
Month 7-8: Pre-Departure and Travel
Pre-departure briefing, flight booking, and connecting with other Study Abroad from Nepal students at Youngstown State. Total time: approximately 7-8 months.
